One of Queen Street West’s best known features is the seemingly endless run of unique shops, cafes, galleries and restaurants. Thanks to the CAMH Queen Street Redevelopment Project, the street’s retail experience will soon be further improved.
The two new buildings currently under construction at CAMH include plans for 9,000 square feet of retail space that will be divided into smaller units, and we want your input into the kinds of services and shops you would like to see in these new spaces. Do you want more restaurants? Maybe a bicycle shop? A medical office? Or perhaps a book store?
The CAMH retail survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and the results will help CAMH determine the appropriate retail and service tenants. The survey is confidential. Please share your thoughts to shape the retails strategy by clicking here. The survey is open until June 1, 2018,
The survey was designed by Urban Metrics, our retail strategy partner selected through a competitive RFP process, and is one aspect of its market research. They will also meet with multiple stakeholders including, our patients and their families, neighbours, the surrounding Queen West community and CAMH staff.
The results of the market analysis will be shared at a community meeting on September 6th, at 6:30 p.m. in the CAMH Community Centre, in Training Room A, where there will also be an opportunity to provide further input. Once the market analysis is complete, CAMH will issue a second RFP in the fall for a partner to help us source and develop tenants for the new spaces.
These new retail and service spaces, along with increased park space, extended streets, art installations and pathways, will create multiple access points for the public to engage with CAMH and in doing so, will help challenge stigma and breakdown barriers for people living with mental illness. Please let us know what kind of retail experience you hope to see at CAMH.
