The CAMH Research Ethics Board (REB) reviews CAMH research involving human participants to ensure that it meets the highest ethical and scientific standards.
The REB's diverse and experienced members include:
- Members with expertise in research disciplines, fields and methodologies (including natural and non-prescription health products and Indigenous community-based research),
- Clinicians,
- Community members (not affiliated with CAMH),
- Members who are not scientists (i.e., whose primary experience and expertise are not in a scientific discipline), and
- Members who are knowledgeable in the relevant law, privacy considerations and ethics
The REB meets the requirements of the Tri Council Policy Statement and the International Conference on Harmonisation E6: Good Clinical Practice guidelines.
Additional information about the CAMH REB can be found in the REB’s Terms of Reference.
The CAMH Research Ethics Office provides support to the REB, undertakes initial and continuing reviews of human research, and provides educational programs for CAMH researchers.
