Today, the Azrieli Centre for Neuro-Radiochemistry is creating novel radiotracers that give a clearer, fuller picture of how the brain is functioning and fuel discoveries to improve mental health—both at CAMH and internationally.
Radiotracers used in PET imaging allow us to see chemical changes in the living human brain, to better understand mental illnesses and aid in developing new treatments. With our new radiotracers, we can identify differences in brain chemistry between people with and without mental illness, understand how medications work and should be dosed, and pinpoint opportunities for developing new treatments.
