Program Overview
Our interprofessional team provide clients with medication therapy options for substance dependence on alcohol, opioids, and benzodiazepines. Care is provided by a team of physicians, nurses, social workers and occupational therapists, along with pharmacy and case worker support.
The Addiction Medicine Service offerings include a medical assessment and different treatment options, including medication therapy, counselling and group therapy. Maintenance therapies for opioid addiction are available, as well as medications to prevent relapse to alcohol use. A resource room provides housing and employment support, food and skill-building groups. Treatment of concomitant pain and addiction is offered through the Interprofessional Pain and Addiction Recovery Clinic (IPARC).
The service also provides education and training for health professional students and practicing health professionals interested in learning more about addiction medicine.
